Teen opera star follows in footsteps of Katherine Jenkins

Teenage opera singer Grace O’Malley duetted alongside Chelsea Pensioner Dennis Shiels at a Coronation Jubilee Concert in Nelson.

The pair teamed up to sing “I’ll Be Seeing You” at Marsden Heights Community College to raise money for the Royal British Legion and Pendleside Hospice. It is the third year Alder Grange Community and Technology student Grace (14) has sung at the concert, which was organised by Brierfield and Reedley Action group.

“It was a great concert and I enjoyed singing with Dennis,” said Grace, who was following in the footsteps of opera star Katherine Jenkins who has also sung alongside Dennis (85).

Grace will also be singing for the Chelsea Pensioners at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea on July 13th. Grace has raised more than £50,000 for a number of charities over the last 10 years, especially the Royal British Legion who have made her an honorary member.She recently collected the BBC Rotary Young Citizen of the Year award for her charity work and her aim is to raise £1m. for charities by the time she goes to university.
