The members of CrossFit Pendle will be taking part in BK’s Box to Box Challenge, travelling across Europe over six days to complete 21 CrossFit “benchmark” workouts at 15 gyms in ninecountries.

The challenge is to raise funds for BK’s Heroes; a charity set up by Ben King, from Reedley, after he was diagnosed with kidney disease and an inoperable brain tumour. Ben died in February but his family has vowed to carry on fund-raising as he wished.

“Ben’s brother Dan is a popular member at the gym, and, as a community, we wanted to do something to raise lots of money for the charity” said Mike Rawson, owner at CrossFit Pendle.

“With a common interest in CrossFit, eight of us have decided to take part in a challenge which will be incredibly gruelling, but also a fantastic way to raise money and awareness.”

Work outs will take the team across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Holland.

James Corner, managing director of ECS and J-Tech Aircon Services Ltd, and member and sponsor of BK’s Box to Box Challenge said: “We can’t wait to begin the challenge at the end of June; we’re training hard at CrossFit Pendle as we want people to really get on board and help us to reach our £5k target for such a great charity.”

CrossFit Pendle will be holding a fund-raising event at its Lomeshaye Industrial Estate site on April 2nd, inviting its members to take part in a fun competition; all money raised will go towards BK’s Heroes. A celebration welcome is also planned for the team when they return to CrossFit Pendle.
