Kamran and his brother Salah-Uddin Ayubi (37), both of Vernon Lane, claim racist slurs are commonly used, though this is the first time Mr Hussan has been physically attacked.

Mr Hussain picked up a passenger from Walton Lane at around 11am on Saturday August 29th.

As the passenger was getting into the car two men standing nearby slammed the front door on the passenger’s side and kicked his car.

“I got out to make sure they had not done any damage,” Kamran explained.

“I asked, ‘what did you do that for?’At that point I said, ‘there is no need for this’, and they started walking towards me.

“They punched me in the face and I got knocked out.

“The next thing I know I got up and fell backwards on the headlight.”

The family has requested that anyone with information about the incident come forward.

In particular, they have requested that owners of nearby shops with CCTV cameras contact the police.

“I was feeling scared because I saw blood coming out of my face.

“There was nothing I could do about it at the time,” said Kamran.

“I feel much better now but then again I drive for a living, so it is kind of scary that it might happen again - especially as it happened out of nothing.

“I don’t want to dwell on it, but if it happened to me, it can happen to anyone else. I could have been killed.

“What are we going to do to make sure that it does not happen again? I believe life is short.

“ I think I should we should all be nice to the people around us.

“Why can’t people be nice to each other?”

Kamran’s brother Ayubi said he was “heartbroken” after his brother’s attack and believes not enough is being done to protect him from future attacks.

“It makes you think: are we really part of a community, or are we just seen as Asians or foreigners,” he said.

Pendle Police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to contact 101 or anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log reference 588 of the 29th of August.
