Sweet dreams of success for girls

A talented girls' football team, sponsored by a local bed company, are dreaming of more success in the future.

The Under 9s Clarets suffered no losses in the 2014/15 season, and in 2015/16 as the Under 10s they were unbeaten between October and April.

Sponsored by Sweet Dreams of Burnley, the team play in the West Lancashire Girls Football League, named National Charter Standard league of the year in 2013 by the Football Association.

Meanwhile, this season is the 20th anniversary of Burnley FC Girls and Ladies – a formidable club with more than 160 registered players of all ages, including a team who play in the North West Women’s Regional Premier League.

John Halton, Secretary of Burnley FC Girls and Ladies, said: “Our younger players aspire to follow in their footsteps and with their fantastic achievements in the last two years, it’s hard to bet against it.”
