Super slimmer Keeley loses almost five stone in weight!

ACCOUNTANT Keeley Smithson was happy to shed pounds in her battle to be slim and fit.

And she has lost almost five stone in just one year, dropping from size 22 to a 16. And her goal is to be a size 12 in time for Christmas when she will be a bridesmaid.

Keeley (30) joined Slimming World in September last year. She said: “I’ve always been overweight and have tried loads of different diets but never stuck to them. Over the last couple of years the weight crept back on as old habits returned and I found I was comfort eating through stress from studying. I was so cross with myself for letting it happen but I couldn’t help it.”

Keeley qualified as a management accountant in September 2010 but by then her clothes were tight or didn’t fit and her confidence levels were at an all time low.

She said: “I knew I had to do something about it so I rejoined my local Slimming World group as it had worked for me before. I also knew I would be welcomed back with open arms and would get the support I needed to help me to lose weight all over again.”

Being able to eat large helpings of her favourite meals, such as fish and chips, curries, spaghetti bolognese and chilli con carne, helped Keeley lose her weight.

This gave Keeley, who works for Premier Foods in Manchester, the confidence to begin exercising earlier this year and gain her Slimming World Body Magic Awards.

Keeley, who is from Burnley but now lives in Nelson, added: “ Before returning to Slimming World I hadn’t exercised for years but I now enjoy Zumba twice a week. I love the music and dance moves. It feels like a Saturday night out during the week. I also enjoy Bokwa, which is a combination of African dance and boxing and lots of walking.

“Without losing weight I would never have dreamed of entering into the Jane Tomlinson Walk this month and I actually completed the 14 miles raising funds for Pendleside Hospice. Activity makes me feel good and by building it up gradually, it has boosted my weight loss and I’ve earned more awards within group which is always a bonus!’

Keeley believes it is the balance of following the Slimming World eating plan, attending groups and increasing her activity that has made the big difference.
