Super fan James jets in from Oz to watch Burnley

AN Aussie Claret could well lay claim to being Burnley’s most passionate supporter after flying 9,000 miles just to see his beloved team take on Blackburn Rovers.

James Waller (25), who moved to Perth with his family in 2006, managed to catch a flight back for the crunch Turf Moor clash just days after landing back in Australia following six months travelling Europe and South America.

“There was no way I was going to miss that game,” he said. “It was well worth it. It obviously would have been nice to win but I’m just going to have to come back in March now to watch them at Ewood. I need to see them beat Blackburn in my lifetime. I don’t care how much it costs.”

Despite living halfway around the world, the former St Theodore’s pupil, who works as an electrician, tries to make it home for all of Burnley’s big games.

“I came back for the playoff final at Wembley and when we were in the Premier League I managed to make it back for around 10 of the games including both games against Blackburn.

“I love the club. When I was travelling around the world I tried to get pictures of the Burnley flag at as many famous landmarks as I could.”
