The Express reported on Friday how Mrs Anne Todd (71), of Stoneyholme, was refusing to eat despite desperate pleas from her family.

Her heartbroken daughter Jackie Nelson, who lives in Brierfield, said she did not know where to turn to get help for her poorly mother.

Mrs Anne Todd was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday.

The grandmother-of-three, who had previously been quite active, stopped going out in November and refused to spend Christmas with her family.

Jackie said doctors insist there is no physical reason why her mum cannot eat and social services and the community mental health team have failed to get her to eat.
