St Joseph’s collect prestigious award

St Joseph’s are one of three schools in Burnley, including St Leonard’s and Wellfield, to receive the award.

The award demonstrates that the schools are achieving well above the national average for the provision of PE and school sport.

Schools were measured on the number of opportunities they provide for children to take part in competitive school sport, extra-curricular sports clubs and activities and the number of children that progress onto playing for local sports clubs.

“Only 10 schools in Lancashire have achieved the Gold Award, and for three of the schools to come from Burnley is a huge achievement and testament to our young people and the great work going on within our local schools”, said School Sport Partnership Development Manager Afrasiab Anwar.

In addition to the three schools who achieved the Gold Award, nine achieved the silver award and 23 achieved the bronze award.
