Kind hearted folk on social media got behind a young restaurant worker who feared he may end up cleaning up instead of watching England play in the World Cup semi-final tonight.

After posing for a photo looking forlorn with a placard saying that if unless he received 250 "likes" and 50 shares on Facebook, he would have to work until 9pm Tom became an internet sensation almost!

For the worker at Burnley's Bistro 197 received over 1,000 likes and 639 shares within an hour!

So his boss had to back down on his "threat" to make him stay at the restaurant in Todmorden Road carrying out a deep clean until 9pm.

Instead, lucky Tom gets the night off with pay and can look forward to cheering on England to beat Croatia and win their place in the World Cup final.
