Daniel was praised by his teachers as having a 'hunger to learn' and always 'reads around the subject we are covering.'

Daniel said he was honoured to receive the award as he has ambitions for a career in aviation.

He said: "I want to be a pilot and am already taking gliding lessons at Bowland Forest to prepare for it.

"I used to be afraid of heights but thankfully I have got over it."
