BURNLEY’S latest discount store opened in a flurry of a trolley dash.
The 99p Stores branch in the former Woolworth’s site was opened by volunteers and workers from Burnley’s Age UK shop who collected 98 items in a 99 second trolley dash for the charity.
Meanwhile, scores of eager shoppers waited patiently in a queue that snaked around the outside of the shop.
The discount store’s boss Mr Hussein Lalani also donated £250 worth of vouchers to Age UK to spend in store.
Around 35 new jobs have been created, with 99p Stores bosses having worked actively and closely with Jobcentre Plus to fill the positions.
