Sean grows his beard for a year to help hospice

A Burnley man embraced the beard game and raised a hair-raising amount for charity.

Sean McParland raised £1,175 in aid of Pendleside Hospice by not shaving his beard from February 2015 until February this year.

Sean, who works for Futaba-Tenneco, said: “It felt great when I finally got to shave my beard.

“It was irritating at times. Thanks to all my friends and colleagues who donated to this great cause and to everyone at my local, the Baltic Fleet, for all their help.”

The Hospice currently costs £3.8m. per year to run. A grant from the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group provides approximately 26% of running costs.
