School closed after power cut

A Burnley primary school has been forced to close today and more than 50 homes are with out power after an underground cable fault.

Wellfield Primary School, in Wellfield Drive, along with 55 homes in the area have been affected.

The cable is expected to be repaired by 1pm.

A spokesman for Electricity North West, said: “An underground cable fault caused the loss of power to 56 customers in Burnley at 2am this morning. Our engineers arrived on site and they are still working hard to repair the fault and restore supplies as quickly as possible.
