Sam, a self-employed IT consultant in his civilian life, joined the Army Reserve after serving as an Army Cadet when younger.

According to his superior officers he has proven to be an extremely capable soldier.

Sam has provided support to comrades facing difficulties outside of their duties, displaying maturity, care and compassion. He even opened his own home to accommodate a fellow solider in need.

Sam said: “I was shocked when I was told I was to receive this award, it was totally unexpected. I give my Reserve service a high priority and take as many opportunities as I can to take part in activities, but I never expected to be awarded like this.”
