SALTERFORTH: Police name Barnoldswick cyclist (36) who dies after hit-and run

DETECTIVES have named a man who died after a suspected fail to stop collision in Barnoldswick this morning.

At 10-30 a.m. police were called to reports of a man being found at the side of the road next to his pedal cycle in Kelbrook Road, Salterforth, about half a mile before Barnoldswick town centre.

The man, 36-year-old Michael Isherwood, from Barnoldswick, was airlifted to Royal Blackburn Hospital but has since died from his injuries.

An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Det. Insp. Mark Rothwell said: “I would appeal for anyone who may have been in the area around 10-30 a.m. to come forward and contact police if they have any information.

“In particular, I am appealing to anyone who may have come across any damaged or abandoned vehicles in the surrounding areas or to anyone who may have had a car brought to them for repairs to the front of the vehicle to come forward and contact police.

“I am also appealing to the driver of the vehicle to come forward and do the right thing and contact police.”
