Safety In Town aims to provide a sense of security to vulnerable residents in the county and will help Calico to continue to support people to improve their quality of life.

Any local shop, business or public place that signs up to the scheme will be provided with a sticker to place prominently in their window.

Anyone who is feeling vulnerable while in town can then enter any property which displays the sticker and ask for help.

As well as signing up to Safety In Town, customers from Calico’s Supported Living service have joined members from Alternative Futures’ confidence group to attend workshops and training on the scheme.

They will go into Burnley town centre to encourage shops and public services to sign up.

Craig Pollard, Calico’s Supported Living Assistant, said: “Town centres with lots of traffic and noise can be worrying places for vulnerable people so a scheme such as Safety In Town, that can give that little bit of added peace of mind, can make a big difference. ”
