Sabden church open after two years of repairs
A landmark village church which was forced to close for more than two years has re-opened amid a celebration of colour, flowers, music and art.
St Nicholas’s Church, in Sabden, staged a three-day flower festival called “A Kaleidoscope of Song,” to mark the occasion after repairs were completed on the historic building. When the church had to close its doors, the village community rallied round to organise a host of fund-raising events to allow it to re-open. The weekend started with a concert by Earby Brass Band, followed by the flower festival, arts, crafts and refreshments. The re-opening was officially marked with a service of thanksgiving and re-dedication led by the Archdeacon of Blackburn, the Ven. John Hawley.
