A trio of running friends are on track to tackle the country’s oldest half-marathon.

Burnley Athletics Club members James Buxton, Neil Sledding and Dale Grimshaw will take part in the Freckleton Half Marathon on the Fylde coast on June 16th.

The pals will be raising money towards repairs for the Barden Lane athletics track where they will be training for the run, as well as brain injuries charity Headway.

James, who works at Haffner’s Butchers in Burnley with Neil, said: “The three of us all train at Barden so felt we would like to raise money for the club.

“Neil’s wife Freya is a volunteer at Headway, which we all agree is a very worthy cause, so we thought we should raise money for the two.”

Sponsorship forms are available in the Haffner’s shop on Keirby Walk for anyone wanting to support the friends.”
