Royal Wedding invite for Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire

THE Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Charles Shuttleworth, who once lived in Gawthorpe Hall, will join royalty and heads of state at this year’s Royal Wedding.

Charles Geoffrey Nicholas Kay-Shuttleworth KCVO, who is fifth Baron Shuttleworth, will be among 1,900 guests at the eagerly-anticipated wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 29th.

Lord Shuttleworth visited Padiham last June when he cut the ribbon at the official opening of the new Padiham Primary School. He commented then that he had lived in Gawthorpe Hall, his family’s home for 400 years, until he was five. Ownership of Gawthorpe Hall was passed to the National Trust in 1972.
