Rosehill postmaster raises £30,000 for Pendleside Hospice

A BURNLEY postmaster who has been raising money for Pendleside Hospice for five-and-a-half years has hit the £30,000 mark.

Mr Steve Harvey, who runs Rosehill Post Office, in Manchester Road, has collected the cash by selling donated, secondhand books to customers at the Post Office. He presented a cheque to hospice founder Miss Muriel Jobling.

Hospice fund-raiser Mr Carl Barnacle said: “Steve does a fantastic job of raising much-needed funds for the hospice.

“As well as raising a huge amount by selling books, he also raises money from foreign coins, stamps, jewellery and watches.

“He is providing an invaluable service to the community of Rosehill.”

Mr Harvey’s other big fund-raiser is his Penny Trail. He encourages people to collect their loose change and donate it to the hospice.
