ROADWORKS MAP: Year of disruption looms on Burnley roads

DRIVERS in Burnley face a year of travel disruption after National Grid announced £4.1m. of gas improvement works.

The project, which has already begun, will affect main routes into the town centre, along Westway and Trafalgar Street, part of Manchester Road, Finsley Gate and Parliament Street.

Contractors will replace 18 miles of old metal pipes with new plastic ones.

Bosses at the utilities company said they will try to keep disruption to motorists to a minimum and work with businesses to keep routes open.
