For full details about the closures, visit www.runforall.com/events/10k/burnley-10k/road-closure-information/Tristan Batley-Kyle, course director at Run For All, said: “The sixth running of this popular event promises to be a great occasion.

“Unfortunately some roads will have to be closed for the safety of those taking part. We will work very hard to keep any inconvenience to a minimum and roads will be open as soon as it is safe to do so. We do apologise for any disruption caused.”

The 10K will give runners a flat and fast start and head towards the bottom of Towneley Park’s Events Triangle before heading along Hall Road and turning right after the Stables Café. It will then follow the tree-lined causeway out of the park and feature a long downhill section along Todmorden Road.

The route will then cross Harry Potts Way, at Turf Moor, and follow Belvedere Road to the fire station before turning left into Thompson Park. Runners will leave Thompson Park at Queen Victoria Road then head up Queens Park Road, taking in further parkland, and will then head down Ormerod Road to meet Belvedere Road again before returning to Towneley Park.
