Among the team organising the event is well-known local estate agent Bill Honeywell, the current president of the Rotary Club of Clitheroe and a committed cyclist himself.

Bill’s own rides, raising thousands of pounds for cancer charities, have included a mammoth 4,300-mile trek around the entire coastline of Britain.

The inaugural Ribble Valley Ride will take place on Sunday June 8th.

Four different routes will each start and finish at Oakhill College, Whalley, and cater for every type of cyclist. They will range from the 100-mile elite route, taking riders into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, through the 60-mile expert course (as far as Malham), the 25-mile experienced route (to Gisburn) and also a five-mile easy ride aimed at families and absolute beginners.

Surplus proceeds from the event will be donated to help the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, which does so much good work in the Lancashire and Cumbria areas. Participants are also encouraged to obtain individual sponsorship, either for the Rosemere or for their own favoured charity.

Full details of the rides, how to enter and much more can be found on the event website at: www.ribblevalleyride.org
