Pendleside Hospice’s annual Light up a Life ceremony will be held at the hospice, in Colne Road, Reedley, at 3-30pm on Sunday. The Mayor of Pendle, Coun. Smith Benson, will switch on the coloured lights to remember people who have died and there will also be carols, readings and performances from teenage songstress Grace O’Malley and BASICS Junior Theatre Group.

After the festive period, the names of those who have died will be entered into a book of remembrance which will be kept on display at the hospice throughout the year.

Hospice fund-raising manager Mrs Kaye Bartle said: “It really is a very special service and it’s lovely for us all to take time out at this busy time of year to remember those special people that lit up our lives.

“The service can be quite emotional but also very uplifting as we all get together to sing traditional Christmas carols.”

Anyone wanting to dedicate a light to a loved one can pick up a leaflet from any one of the hospice shops or from hospice reception. They can also go to www.pendleside.org.uk or call 01282 440120.
