Reedley couple received MBE at Buckingham Palace

REEDLEY couple Florence and Keith Tomlinson have been presented with their MBE awards at Buckingham Palace.

The pair, who were each awarded the prestigious honours by the Queen, had their names put forward by a mysterious nominee for the tireless charity and campaign work they do for organisations such as Pendleside Hospice and the North West Air Ambulance.

And after the three-day trip to London, both of the Tomlinsons are still thrilled to have met Her Majesty and are very proud to be thought of so highly within Pendle.

Florence said: “It was an absolutely brilliant trip and we had a fantastic day at the Palace. The Queen is really good too, she knows so much about the work each person has done.”

Keith said: “I was overwhelmed, it was a magnificent day. The palace officers made you feel so comfortable and the event so much easier. To be invested next to Florence was a wonderful occasion.”

The pair went to London with daughters Vanessa and Lorretta, sons-in-law Gavin and Paul and grandchildren Tristan and Virginia. While there, they managed to see a few sights and take in a trip of the Houses of Parliament too.

Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson said: “Both Florence and Keith are stars in the community and I think their MBEs are truly well deserved. I was delighted to play my little part by taking them and the family around the Houses of Commons and the rest of Parliament.”
