Read school’s panto tribute to popular teacher
“Mr Broadbent’s Christmas” was written and performed by pupils and staff in memory of Mr Chris Broadbent, who had taught at Read Primary School for several years.
A keen writer and published author, it was customary for Mr Broadbent to write the school’s annual Christmas production, a task he had completed for at least 14 years.

Mr Broadbent’s widow, Christine, and several relatives were in the audience when the pupils performed the show at the school.
Headteacher Mr David Smith said: “It was a lovely performance, but very moving and emotional especially for Mr Broadbent’s family.
“We are now considering various options to erect a permanent memorial in memory of Mr Broadbent in the grounds of the school in the new year.”
