Read allotment blaze: police appeal

The incident happened between 5-50pm on Wednesday, January 21st, and 8-50am on Thursday, January 22nd, at an allotment in Beaufort Close.

It is thought two youths entered the allotment and gained access to one of the sheds before setting fire to papers and a chair cushion inside, causing minor damage.

One of the youths is described as Asian, thought to be aged 17 to 18, of a slim build with short dark hair and large rimmed glasses. He was wearing a dark anorak and carrying a grey rucksack.

The other is described as Asian, aged around 17 to 18 and of a slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt or jacket, blue trainers with three white stripes down the sides and was carrying a dark rucksack.

PC Denise Barlow, of Burnley Police said: “Despite the passage of time, we are still determined to trace the two youths involved in this incident. This has been a very unpleasant experience for the allotment owner and I would urge those responsible for the damage to come forward.”
