In a raid at an empty house in Halifax Road today, more than 600 plants were discovered growing in almost every room.

The raid followed information passed to the police by Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson, who had received concerns from a constituent at a surgery he held at Morrisons, Nelson, at the end of last month.

Officers obtained a warrant to enter the property on Monday and followed up by breaking into it this morning.

After the raid, Mr Stephenson said: “I am delighted and impressed with the successful action taken by police following this tip off by a member of the public.”
