Professional singer and entertainer, Wayne has performed far and wide and admits his Burnley accent has often been a talking point.

People hear me singing big-band swing tunes, soul, pop or rock tunes and then hear me speak and it’s not what they expect,” said Wayne.

“That said, I always take the opportunity to tell people that Burnley is a wonderful place, full of great businesses, welcoming people and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Wayne recently ran the equivalent of the length of the Leeds-Liverpool canal and back – basically running forty-one 10 kilometre runs throughout November.

He did this to raise money and awareness around Motor Neurone Disease, in memory of Fergus Brown – a business advisor from Enterprise Lancashire who helped so many people start up in business in the Burnley area.

Wayne was one of these who received support.

Now Wayne performs at business events and also weddings – sometimes on his own and sometimes with a fourteen piece backing band.

“An event I’ve done frequently in recent years is a huge New Year’s Eve event at Hong Kong Football Club and the fact that I was from Burnley went down very well there.

“People were very aware of our town’s football heritage and they even showed me their board room, which features plaques with the club crests of the founder members of the Football League, which of course includes Burnley,” added Wayne.

“I recently performed at a big event that took place at a Polo Club in Cheshire, and even in an environment like that I found that people are more aware of Burnley, not just for football, but because there’s a buzz about the place and it’s seen as a town on the up.”

“I’m sure that the Bondholder network has been instrumental in helping increase the profile of the town and as a proud Burnley lad, I thought that it was something that I should support and get involved with.”
