Pride at Blues gold in silver anniversary year

Colne’s Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival has been voted the best in Europe for the second year running.

The annual music event, which brings Pendle’s capital of cool alive across the August Bank Holiday weekend, has been named the Best Blues Festival in the European Blues Awards 2014.

What’s more, the festival secured its second consecutive gold in the awards in its silver anniversary year.

Event organiser Alison Goode and marketing manager Sue Madigan have spoken of their pride at the festival defending its “Best in Europe” title and the special buzz in Colne when the world’s Blues stars and thousands of aficionados descend on the town for the festival weekend.
