Shock resignation triggers Burnley East by-election
The shock resignation of a Labour county councillor has triggered a by-election in the Burnley Central east seat.
Dr Misfar Hassan recently resigned his seat, which will now be contested on Thursday, November 3rd.
Dr Hassan was elected on May 7th, 2010, for Labour, but has now decided to step down.
The deadline for nominations is on Friday at no later than 4pm.
The publication of candidates’ names or “Statement of Persons nominated” will be on Monday, October 10th.
