Candidates await result as polls close
The polls have closed and ballot boxes will soon be arriving at the St Peter's Centre ahead of the election count.
The result is expected to be announced at 3am.
Labour are strong favourites but the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives are hopeful of causing an upset.
In the 2015 General Election, Julie Cooper polled 14,951 votes, with Liberal Democrat candidate and previous Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle polling 11,707 votes.
Tom Commis (UKIP) came third with 6,864 of the vote while Conservative's Sarah Cockburn-Price polled 5,374. Mike Hargreaves, for the Green Party, polled 850 votes.
