Burnley MP safe in her London office following Westminster attack
Burnley MP Julie Cooper is safe, but is currently in "lockdown" at her Westminster office in the immediate aftermath of today's attack in Parliament.
The Labour MP texted her staff in Burnley from the capital where she was working at the same time an attacker stabbed a policeman in the Houses of Parliament.
A second attack is believed to have occurred on Westminster Bridge where 10 people are thought to have been knocked down by a car.
Mrs Cooper's staff told the Burnley Express that she was safely locked in her office at Portcullis House, which sits opposite the Houses of Parliament.
A member of her staff said: "Westminster is in complete lockdown at the moment. Julie did not witness the attack but has texted to say her and her staff there are safe. It is a very fragmented picture at the moment."
