Police woman shot in Leeds ‘from Nelson’: reports

The police officer who was shot while answering a call in Leeds this week is reported to be from Nelson.

The 33-year-old unnamed officer suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries to her face, neck and hand after a sawn-off shotgun was fired through a glass door of a house.

She remains in hospital where her condition is said to be “serious but stable”.

West Yorkshire Police Federation said the injured officer was being supported by family and friends as she recovered following surgery.

A 37-year-old man from the area has been charged with attempted murder and is due in court later today.
