The assault happened on Sunday, April 24th, between 1-30 - 3-30 p.m. after the two victims, who were walking along Colne Road, were approached by two Asian men.

After being verbally abused, the two men tried to leave when a larger group of around 10 Asian men walked over.

One of the victims was then thrown into Colne Road, near to the junction of Barden Lane, where he was kicked and punched in the chest. When his friend tried to intervene he was chased across the grass area next to Barden Lane before eventually being caught and punched in the head.

DC Tim Maddox, of the Hate Crime Unit, said: “Everybody involved in the incident was aged in their late teens or thereabouts. It was a nasty attack and we would appreciate anybody who witnessed the incident to come forward and help us with the investigation. I believe there was a bus going past at the time and there may have also been a queue of traffic.”

Anybody with information can contact DC Maddox on 01282 472282.
