Police witness appeal after Boxing Day road accident

Police are today appealing for information following a collision in Burnley on Boxing Da in which a pedestrian was hurt.

The accident happened around 11.30pm on Saturday as a 41-year-old man was in collision with a car as he crossed the road at the junction of Colne Road and Hebrew Road. The man was knocked to the floor and sustained a wound to his forehead.

The driver of the vehicle stopped initially to check whether the victim was hurt but left without exchanging any details. The car was described as red and the driver was described as an Asian man.

PC Derek Scott from the Road Policing Unit said: “Unfortunately the man who was injured is unable to remember any further details about the car or driver and as yet no witnesses have come forward. I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident to come forward with any information they might have. I would also urge the driver of the car, if they see this appeal, to get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity.”
