Police study CCTV at Burnley recycling site in ‘body in skip’ case

POLICE were examining CCTV clues at a Burnley recycling centre after a body was discovered at a landfill site this morning.

The man, who was white and believed to be between 30 and 50, was found in a skip by staff at the Whinney Hill Road site in Accrington

Police were called to the site at 8-50 a.m. and it has been shut down while officers examine the scene.

The new Household Waste Recycling Centre on the Heasandford Industrial Estate, in Burnley, was sealed off at 9-30 a.m. as police continued inquiries into the death which is being treated as unexplained.

Detectives were speaking to staff and looking at CCTV footage for clues at the newly-opened centre in Widow Hill Road.

Staff at the centre said the facilities would not re-open until tomorrow pending police investigations.
