Police search Towneley Park after bid to snatch tot

The frightening incident happened just before noon yesterday (Wednesday) in woodland behind Towneley Hall when the man tried to grab the little girl’s arm.

Her father managed to pull the man away who then ran from the scene.

Police scoured the park afterwards and interviewed visitors. They are now studying CCTV in an attempt to catch the offender.

A police spokesman said: “We received an allegation from a father on Wednesday that someone tried to grab his two-year-old daughter while they were in Towneley Park.

“We are investigating the allegation thoroughly and, as part of that, an organised search of Towneley Park has taken place.”

Police confirmed today (Thursday) that no arrests have been made.
