Police release CCTV in hunt for Burnley attackers
POLICE in Burnley have issued CCTV images of three men they want to trace after a 25-year-old Nelson man was assaulted outside Bo Jangles on Saturday, May 28th.
The assault took place just after 5 a.m. when the victim was standing with friends. He was attacked by a number of men who pursued him along Hammerton Street, into Queens Lancashire Way and towards the traffic lights in Manchester Road.
The victim was punched in the face and sustained a broken jaw.
An investigation into the assault continues and police have today released a series of CCTV stills taken within Burnley town centre.
The images show a group of people, male and female, making their way along Hammerton Street towards Bo Jangles about 1 a.m. that day.
Detectives are keen to speak with the three men circled in the images in connection with the incident and are appealing for information to assist them in identifying who they are.
DC Tim Maddox said: “This was a serious and unprovoked assault and I would urge people to take a close look at the images and if you recognise any of the men circled please contact police.
“We believe the men responsible for the assault left the area by taxi and to date, they have not been identified.
“It may be that these individuals have nothing to do with the incident but we still need to speak with them as they could still be potential witnesses.”
Any information can be passed to detectives at Burnley Police Station on 01282 472282, or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
