It s believed the fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle was set alight on purpose at around 2-10am on Saturday in Regent Street.

Fire crews from Nelson were called to the scene and extinguished the flames using a hosereel, The car was parked on the driveway of a home.

Lighting equipment was also necessary to assist the crews.
