Police appeal after man’s skull fractured in attack outside Burnley pub

POLICE in Burnley are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a fractured skull in an attack outside a town centre pub in the early hours of Sunday.

The 33-year-old victim was punched in the face by two men about 1 a.m. outside the Kestrel Suite pub, at the junction of Hammerton Street and Cow Lane.

Doctors at the Royal Blackburn Hospital are treating his skull injury along with damage to his ear and bleeds on the brain. He has extensive bruising to face, but his condition is “stable”.

Det. Insp. Simon Cheyte, of Burnley CID, said: “This would appear to be a serious and completely unprovoked assault and I would appeal to anyone that witnessed this incident or has any information that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.

“In particular, I would like to hear from anyone who was in the pub that night around the time of the offence as they could have vital information.”
