Police appeal after man hurt in hit-and-run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Haslingden.

The accident happened shortly before 8pm on Saturday, January 31st, when a 26-year-old man was walking down Pleasant Street towards the junction of Higher Deardengate.

He was attempting to cross the road when he was involved in a collision with a car travelling down Deardengate.

The car is believed to be either a white or silver Ford Cougar or Mitsibushi Outlander and drove off towards the traffic lights at the Manchester Road junction.

The man sustained injuries to his head, neck and back and was taken for treatment at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

PC Mark Darlington of the East Road Policing Unit said: “CCTV inquiries are on-going to identify the driver of the vehicle and I would urge anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about what happened to contact us.”
