Pink 5k for Cancer Research to be staged in Towneley Park
The Colne and West Craven Cancer Research UK fund-raising group is taking over Towneley Park for a morning this summer.
The group is planning to run the hugely popular event as “The Pink 5k for Cancer Research UK” as Race for Life is a trademarked name.

That was a double blow for the Pendle fund-raisers who saw the Race for Life at Broughton Hall near Skipton finish in 2012 with the charity citing similar reasons.
However, the fund-raisers are not willing to see Burnley miss out and hundreds of runners wearing pink or in fancy dress could still be racing through the picturesque park once again.
Group secretary Margaret Cannon said: “The park is booked and the planning is going ahead.

“It’s such a lovely event with a fantastic atmosphere and people like to run for friends and family.
“It’s also a very moving event and we want to keep that part of it.
“Obviously we want to see as many runners as possible and Towneley Park is a such a great park.

“We are desperate for volunteers to help set up the course, to marshal the event and to help tidy up at the end.
“It is a morning race, so we would hope to be finished by 2pm.
“If you think you are able to help out at all, for any part, or if you think you would be interested in taking part in the race, please do get in touch.
