Burnley College students proved to be a-mazing after many secured places at the country's top universities.
Burnley College Sixth Form Centre saw almost 200 A* and A grades, and an outstanding pass rate of 99.6%,.
The hallowed institutions of Cambridge University, York University, University of Manchester, Lancaster University and Edinburgh University await the bright young people.
A Level students achieved particularly high grades in English, maths, chemistry, sociology, law and psychology. Further maths students broke records with all students achieving A* and A grades.
Success after success was celebrated as the outstanding high grades continued to be opened.
A Level student Holly Welsby from Church was delighted to receive her triple A* grades, meaning that her entry requirements to read psychological and behavioural science at Churchill College, Cambridge, were met.
She said: “I am so excited to have been selected to join Churchill College. Cambridge was my first choice and I’m looking forward to beginning my studies in their prestigious behavioural sciences facilities.
“I have learned so much on the Honours Programme and this undoubtedly helped me to progress to Cambridge University and will continue to help me gain the career I want. Burnley College is so brilliant that I’ve already recommended it to everyone.”
Also celebrating was Joshua Butterworth, whose AS Level success advanced into A Level excellence as he secured three A* and one A in his A Level results. Now Joshua will progress to Lancaster University to study a degree in physics and pursue his dream of working in astronomical research.
Joshua said: “The flexibility and freedom I’ve had in being able to choose subjects I’m passionate about and study in interesting classes has been outstanding.
“What I’ve really enjoyed is our class trips to CERN and Jodrell Bank Planetarium which gave me some amazing insights into the scientific world I want to be a part of once I progress to Lancaster.”
Principal Hugh Bramwell said of the students’ achievements: “The whole of Burnley College Sixth Form Centre is so proud of our students for achieving these outstanding results and of our outstanding teaching staff who help our students to become the minds of tomorrow.
“Results day is the day of the academic year when everybody’s hard work comes together for a fantastic result and we couldn’t be happier with today’s outcome.”
