Traffic ground to a standstill late yesterday afternoon after roads leading to the M65 in Hapton were closed following a fire in a commercial building.

Several fire engines from Burnley, Hyndburn, Padiham, Blackburn and Darwen along with the Stinger from Blackburn and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Preston were mobilised to a large commercial building fire on Accrington Road in Hapton yesterday afternoon.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Accrington Road was closed as a result.
