Not even torrential rain on the Friday could dampen the party spirit with packed out tents hosting a quality mix of dance and soul DJs and bands.

Saturday brought the sunshine and with it some Manchester swagger – Happy Mondaze, The Oasis Experience and The Clone Roses evoking mass sing-alongs to the likes of “Step On”, “Live Forever” and “I Am The Resurrection”.

As the sun went down the music continued, DJs Krysko, Jane Angel, Mark XTC and Big Kenny keeping the music going well into the evening,

Madge Nawaz, who organised the festival alongside DJ Craig Kennedy, said the event had been a big success and they were already looking ahead to next year.

“We’re going to be meeting up with the council again soon to talk about what we’re going to be doing next year. They wanted it to be more family-friendly this year and I think we achieved that. Next year we’ll probably look at holding it on a Saturday and Sunday instead of the Friday, but we’ll see.

“It’s all a learning curve but we’re incredibly happy with out it all went. We’ve said all along that this is something that Burnley needs. Every time we’ve organised an event we’ve always had more people at the next one so it shows that it’s growing. To have had around 2,000 people at this one was fantastic.”

Furniture for Education Worldwide and Pendleside Hospice were the two causes to benefit from the weekend while Armed Forced charity Salute also hosted a stall.

Madge added: “We want it to get bigger and better. We’ve got a good foundation now, something to build on and hopefully everyone will get behind us and help us put this on on the map.”
