The all-women Race for Life event took over the whole park with the menfolk acting as spectators and supporters, cheering and applauding everyone to the finish line.
The “run” around the park has become a must on the local calendar and after Sunday’s event, when all the sponsorship money comes in, they hope to have raised around £65,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Then local woman Debbie Procter, whose life has been touched by cancer when she lost her dad to the disease, told her story on the stage. She has now become a keen volunteer for Cancer Research and raised the flag to start the event.
Many of the competitors had notices on their backs naming a loved one they were remembering and at the end every single member of this pink army was a winner.
