Photo of man killed in Salterforth hit-and-run

POLICE have this morning arrested a 46-year-old man from Hyde, Cheshire, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a suspected hit-and-run incident in Salterforth yesterday morning in which a 36-year-old cyclist died.

The man is currently being questioned by officers at Burnley Police Station and police have renwed their appeals for informaton following the incident around 10-30 a.m. in kelbrook Road.

Cyclist Michael Isherwood, from Barnoldswick, was airlifted to Royal Blackburn Hospital following the incident, half a mile before Barnoldswick town centre but died from his injuries.

Det. Insp. Mark Rothwell said: “I would appeal for anyone who may have been in the area around 10-30 a.m. to come forward and contact police if they have any information.”

“I am also appealing to the driver of the vehicle to come forward and do the right thing and contact police.”
