Young and old marked the love that our feathered and furry friends bring to people’s lives at HAPPA’s Celebration of Animals in Our Lives.

The event was held to celebrate the companionship all animals offer and was conducted in conjunction with support from St James’s Church, Briercliffe, and Hill Lane Baptist Church.

Julie Rickwood-Gan, HAPPA development officer, said: “We welcomed everyone to come and give praise to all our animal friends, and invited members of the public to bring their pets to be blessed during the service. HAPPA’s own horses, ponies and donkeys also joined the service to be blessed.

“We had a really good turn-out and it was a lovely day. Gandalf, our tiniest pony, was blessed, as was Spirit, Rosie and our horse Ruth.

“Lots of people also brought their dogs along.”

HAPPA is based at Shores Hey Farm, off Halifax Road, Briercliffe.
