And while the white stuff may have caused chaos on roads across the county the arrival of the white stuff meant just one thing for youngsters... fun!

Families were out in force for walks and to have lots of fun and adventures on sledges as parts of Burnley and Padiham were covered in thick snow.

The Met Office has issued another snow and ice warning covering the whole of Lancashire with temperatures set to plunge.

The warning comes after residents across Lancashire woke up to find snow and ice, with the conditions causing difficult driving conditions in parts of Burnley and on the M65.

Meteorologists have now warned the freezing conditions are set to continue with more snow and ice set to arrive later today and tomorrow.

The first yellow weather warning for ice is in place from 6pm today (December 29) until 10am tomorrow (December 30).

A second yellow weather warning for snow, which covers all of Lancashire, has also been put in place from 6pm tomorrow (December 30) until 2pm tomorrow morning (December 31).
